Epic fantasy is Joel Gerlach, but what if it were true?

Had a nuclear war broken out in the days of the cold war your area, JC/Kingsport might have been a post-apocalyptic area. Winds from Oak Ridge and Knoxville might have carried a radiation cloud from that area to your area. Eastman Chemical, Alcoa Aluminium, and other industries in the East TN. area would have also been targets.

The Oak Ridge and Knoxville (TVA) area would surely have been ground zero for nukes in the first round. Oak Ridge was the home of Americas nuclear bomb factories and Knoxville was one of the control centers for the electric power production required for the plant. Did you know that Oak ridge was fed by two seperate but equal AC feeds to keep it operational at all times. (My father in-law was assigned to a TVA team to rebuild the power grid post nuclear war. My own father flew nuclear bombers for the Air Force.)

Now that we’ve established a reality base for your story line go have fun with the incredible images and effects that blender affords you. I’m in awe of what you’ve put together so far. Technology has come a long way from processing B&W film in a darkroom back when I was 20/21 in the early 70’s.

…. Enjoy the process, but remember storyline is king regardless of medium. And Jesus is KING of all!

This is happening, just down the road, in Middle Tennessee? It looks awesome!

I don’t mean to add to your workload, especially now that you are discovering “lesson number one” about digital asset files (and Adobe software…), but I do hope that you’ll do a “Making Of” featurette at-or-about the time that you release the film itself. ‘Cuz there are surely going to be a lot of people following in your footsteps. So, if you could just condense an entire four year degree program into a “making of” video, that would be great. Thanks. 😉

As soon as school is finished, I’m afraid that you’re going to have this huge let-down. Such that, realistically, about the only thing you could possibly do is to incorporate your film company in earnest and start making more movies. They might not all be as exciting as smashing alien probes into campus buildings, but you really never know, do you? Steven Spielberg got his start by schlepping around in the Arizona deserts not far from where I used to live. With digital media going as far and as fast as it is now, you just never do know.

Either way, you’re going to be coming right out of the block and right into a rather elite group: “film makers.” i.e. People who have actually started AND FINISHED a significant film. Congratulations, and I look forward to seeing it.
